MagiQ Technologies has completed a cutting-edge research initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, advancing the frontier of AI-driven seismic data processing and intelligent subsurface interpretation. Conducted under DOE Contract No. DE-SC0021824, the program establishes a powerful new paradigm for extracting high-value insights from complex and imperfect seismic datasets.
At the core of the innovation is a proprietary AI-enabled computational framework that fuses machine learning with advanced signal processing to autonomously interpret seismic wavefields. Unlike conventional workflows that depend on predefined models and well-characterized sources, MagiQ’s approach dynamically learns from the data itself—simultaneously estimating source signatures and subsurface structure directly from raw measurements. This adaptive intelligence allows the system to operate effectively even in challenging environments with incomplete information, complex geology, or low signal quality.
The platform incorporates advanced methods such as Semblance-Weighted Deconvolution within a broader AI-driven optimization loop, continuously enhancing bandwidth, resolution, and signal-to-noise ratio. The result is a self-optimizing seismic analysis engine capable of unlocking actionable information from both new acquisitions and legacy datasets—transforming previously marginal or unusable data into high-value assets.
“The results of this program demonstrate the power of combining AI with advanced physics-based signal processing,” said Principal Investigator Dr. Caleb Christensen. “MagiQ’s technology enables a fundamentally new way of understanding the subsurface—one that is adaptive, data-driven, and capable of extracting insight where traditional methods fail. This opens the door to more efficient monitoring of carbon storage, improved detection of geologic hazards, and enhanced performance in energy exploration and geothermal systems. Just as importantly, it allows operators to revisit historical datasets and extract new value without the need for costly reacquisition.”
MagiQ’s AI-powered platform delivers faster, more reliable results while significantly reducing interpretation effort.
